These classes have sent us some email and also some pictures telling what they have done in their lessons about the Titanic.

Grade 2 (7yr olds) at SUSANNA MOODIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, BELLEVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA
The students were each given a copy of a plan of the Titanic, they were asked to measure all the dimensions needed to make a copy. Being only 33cm long, it was apparent to all that our plan was too small. We scaled up the plan by making 1cm = 10cm. Each student went over their own plans scaling up the dimensions X10, writing the new numbers in another colour.
We made a new master plan on the black board, everyone contributing figures, all discrepancies were eliminated at this point.
From our new plan we drew the ship in coloured chalk on large roll paper. We made a chalk line when the meter stick proved to be too short.
Students were continually checking the dimensions as they progressed, very few errors went undetected.
Red and black paper was cut into 4cm squares for the hull (the students had seen the hull plates), white strips for the rest. The funnels are black and orange. Yellow paper was cut into small squares for windows, and punched with the hole punch to make ports.
